A Madison County insurance broker wants to change the fiscal culture in Springfield by running for the Illinois Senate.
Mike Babcock, 49, of Bethalto, has announced he intends to run for the 56th District Senate seat held by Sen. Bill Haine, D-Alton.
Babcock, a Republican, is working to gain enough signatures within the district to become a candidate and build “common-sense solutions” that will help lower taxes and create jobs, he said.
He said that in his opinion, Illinois politicians are spending too much, taxing too much and borrowing too much.
One of the Miami Valley’s Most Wanted was arrested Tuesday at the New Carlisle Library after a patron recognized him from being profiled on WHIO-TV.
Ernest C. Landgraf Jr. was wanted out of Montgomery County for tampering with coin machines, according to information from WHIO-TV.
He was in the Clark County Jail on Tuesday on a warrant for parole violation, according to Lt. Eric Holmes from the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.

• Raymond L. Poe, 38, of 13 S. Shaffer St., was arrested on a charge of domestic violence Monday evening after police alleged he struck a woman in the face with his forehead around 5:15 p.m. He was taken to the Clark County Jail.

Breuer of the Criminal Division represented the U.S Department of Justice as a keynote speaker at the 5th International Law Enforcement Intellectual Property (IP) Crime Conference in Madrid, hosted by INTERPOL, EUROPOL, and the Cuerpo Nacional de Policia.
