The Employment Appeal Tribunal (EAT) has given permission for barrister Aisha Bijlani to pursue a racial and disability discrimination claim against four named individuals at her chambers, 4 New Square (4NS).

In March last year the Employment Tribunal told Bijlani that none of her 16 claims against former head of chambers Roger Stewart QC, Justin Fenwick QC, John Powell QC and senior clerk Lizzie Wiseman, were successful .
Originally, the barrister claimed losses of £33m, £7.6m of which was for past loss of earnings and £26m for potential future loss of earnings .

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Trying to help the homeless turned ugly for a woman who invited two strangers into her home.
The 46-year-old woman invited the two homeless men into her home for dinner, according to an Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department report.
While the two men were in her house, one of them punched and kicked her, dragged her by her hair and sexually assaulted her, the woman told police. IMPD found the homeless man under a bridge and interviewed him.
The woman was treated at a hospital.

WASHINGTON PARK — The political ball is continuing to bounce in the village as officials continue their disagreement over the seating of the newly elected board members and the elected village clerk’s job.
On Tuesday night, two meetings were being conducted simultaneously. That was the second time this month the two factions in Village Hall had meetings at the same time.
Mayor James Jones, after he felt he was not getting the proper cooperation from ousted Village Clerk Rickie Thomas on Tuesday night, decided to avoid any further confusion by calling for an adjournment of the meeting and waiting until Wednesday when a judge was expected to hold a hearing and tell everyone what the law says they must do.

FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS — Ward 5 Alderwoman Sandy Baldwin accused Mayor Gail Mitchell of “partisan politics” in assigning aldermen to committees and causing unequal representation among the city’s five wards during Tuesday night’s City Council meeting.
Baldwin, who ran against Mitchell in the mayoral race, said some Ward 5 residents were concerned they were under-represented because the mayor assigned Baldwin to less prominent positions than other council members.
Baldwin said she plans to make her voice heard, nevertheless, and will make sure her residents are represented.
“The only vote that matters is in this room,” Baldwin said.
