Lawyers attempting to get social networking into evidence must contend with a group of judges who probably have never used a social networking site between the seven of them.
(I’d love to be proven wrong. To be fair, a quick check of Facebook shows that Judge Bell has a page with 30 friends, including public figures like Stephanie Rawlings-Blake and Catherine Pugh. However, he has no photograph, so it looks like it’s not being used. Sally Adkins might have a page, which is mostly private. A comprehensive survey conducted by the National Opinion Research Center (NORC) at the University of Chicago indicates there’s a decline in household and personal gun ownership.
The study collected data for nearly 40 years, completing its 28th round in 2010.
The survey has asked since 1973 “Do you happen to have in your home or garage any guns or revolvers?” Data from the study revealed that from 1977 to 2010, the percentage of American households that reported having guns in the home dropped more than 40 percent. Gun ownership hit its peak in 1977, when 54 percent of households reported having a gun. In 2010, less than a third of households reported having a gun at their residence.

WASHINGTON – The Supreme Court rejected a call Monday from Virginia’s attorney general to depart from its usual practice and put review of the health care law on a fast track. Instead, judicial review of President Barack Obama’s signature legislation will continue in federal appeals courts.
The justices turned down a request by Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli, a leading opponent of the law, to resolve questions about its constitutionality quickly. The Obama administration opposed Cuccinelli’s plea.
Only rarely, in wartime or a constitutional crisis, does the court step into a legal fight before the issues are aired in appellate courts.
